Required actions for ALL infractions Listed Below:

  • Staff/Student Contact in Student Information System
  • Administrative/Parent Contact/Conference
  • Copy of the Referral provided to Parent/Guardian

Maliciously, willfully and/or neglectfully starting, by any means, a fire or causing an explosion on school property or at any school-related activity.

  • Arson I: less than $200 damage,
  • Arson II: $200 to $999 damage,
  • Arson III: $1000 damage or more.

(Invoices for replacement costs, repair and police reports must be part of final referral when seeking long-term suspension or expulsion.)

This infraction requires a police report with the charge of Arson.*

Consequences/Disposition

Arson I: less than $200 damage

Elementary (Pre-K to 3rd)

  • Utilize intervention strategies
  • Do not exceed maximum consequences for 4th-5th Grade.
  • General practice for PK-3 is a suspension of no more than 3 days for a single incident and no referral to hearing.
  • Additional consequences allowed with Associate approval

Elementary (4th-5th)

  • Utilize intervention strategies.

  • 1st Violation - Up to 1 day Suspension

  • 2nd Violation - Up to 3 days Suspension

  • 3rd Violation - Up to 5 days Suspension

  • 4th Violation - Up to Long-term Suspension Hearing

Middle/High

  • Utilize intervention strategies
  • 1st Violation - Up to 1 day Suspension
  • 2nd Violation - Up to 3 days Suspension
  • 3rd Violation - Up to 5 days Suspension
  • 4th Violation - Up to Long-term Suspension Hearing

Arson II: $200 to $999 damage

Elementary (Pre-K to 3rd)

  • Utilize intervention strategies

  • Do not exceed maximum consequences for 4th-5th Grade.

  • General practice for PK-3 is a suspension of no more than 3 days for a single incident and no referral to hearing.

  • Additional consequences allowed with Associate approval

Elementary (4th-5th)

  • Utilize intervention strategies.
  • 1st Violation - Up to 1 day Suspension

  • 2nd Violation - Up to 3 days Suspension

  • 3rd Violation - Up to 5 days Suspension

  • 4th Violation - Up to Long-term Suspension Hearing

Middle/High

  • 1st Violation - Up to 3 days Suspension

  • 2nd Violation - Up to 5 days Suspension

Arson III: $1000 damage up to $9,999

Damage of $10,000 or more

Elementary (Pre-K to 3rd)
