Red, Yellow, Green: Learning Models During COVID-19

Albuquerque Public Schools will operate in three models this year, depending on the status of the pandemic and health guidelines from the New Mexico Department of Health and Public Education Department.

School Schedule Models

Students engage in distance-learning at home full time, Monday through Friday. There is no bus transportation necessary or provided when operating in RED.

Students go to school two days a week for in-person instruction. On the other three days, they continue remote learning. Students will be divided into two groups:

  • Group A: Students go to school for in-person instruction on Mondays and Tuesdays.
  • Group B: Students go to school for in-person instruction on Thursdays and Fridays.
  • Wednesdays are designated remote learning days.

Students attend in-person instruction Monday through Friday at school. Masks, social distancing, and other safety protocols may still apply.

The 2020-2021 School Year Began on Aug. 12 in red (remote learning). Remote learning continued through the first semester. It is scheduled to continue in red at least through Jan. 19, 2021, when some of the district's youngest students may begin returning to in-person learning in small groups if the spread of the virus has subsided.
