New Public Health Order Doesn’t Affect APS Schools, Offices

On Friday, Nov. 13, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham added restrictions to the state’s public health order to control the spread of the coronavirus.

It is important to note that the new public health order doesn’t affect public schools, including Special Ed in the Red, which will continue as scheduled. There also are no changes to school athletics and activities at this time.

APS employees should continue working as they have during the pandemic. Please don’t forget to complete a Daily Health Screening before heading to work, and STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK!

Guidelines for Working in APS Offices & Schools

  • When possible, employees should telework. Check with your supervisor to determine whether working from home is an option for you.
  • If employees need to return to the office, it is preferred that they work on a rotating schedule. Work with your supervisor on a schedule.
  • Employees should stay in their work area.
  • Employees MUST wear a mask when at work.
  • Wash your hands regularly and avoid using other employees' phones, offices, work tools, or equipment. If necessary, clean and disinfect.
  • There should be no more than two people in an elevator at a time. Avoid touching elevator buttons with your finger.
  • Employees should practice social distancing and avoid gathering together.
  • Employees should not eat together. Lounges and kitchens should only be used for storing or warming food.
  • Staff meetings should be held virtually.

Employee Health

  • APS expects that all employees will make the utmost effort to remain healthy for their own well-being as well as that of others in their lives including family members, friends, and colleagues.
  • Employees who are coming into work must complete a Health Screening each day regarding their health. If they exhibit symptoms on the questionnaire, they must report this to their supervisor to determine if they should report to work. Download the APS Staff and Faculty Daily COVID-19 Questionnaire (PDF)
  • Employees who have been identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID must quarantine for 14 days and get a COVID test.
  • Employees are expected to stay at home if they are ill.
  • If an employee becomes ill while at work, they should immediately notify their supervisor, leave for home, and consult a medical professional as needed.
