Forming Connections

The International Center will provide refugees and newcomers with resources to support education and the development of self-sufficient, fulfilling lives. We will work to create meaningful connections between refugees, APS schools, culture, and the community.

We will foster newcomer connections with APS by being a "one-stop" shop:

  • Explain the U.S. education system
  • Identify APS programs and resources
  • Clarify APS processes

We will help newcomers and the APS community form cross-cultural connections:

  • International Library will offer books written in the native languages of newcomers
  • Provide cultural professional development opportunities

We will connect APS and community organizations through collaboration and information sharing.

  • Monthly meeting with community organizations
  • Spring Break College Readiness Camp
  • TELL (Teaching English Language Learners) training for our program and partners
  • Monthly Parent Engagement meeting
