Congratulations to all the Hispanic and Latinx Heritage Month Essay Contest Winners 2023!

The essays entered by these APS students reflected on how resilence, passion, strength, and empathy in their Hispanic/Latinx community has supported their success as students. The essays also expressed how they encourage classmates and others in their own community. Some wrote about a specific group or individual who inspire them. 

Congratulations for all your exceptional essays! We encouraged all winners to continue reading and writing with book prizes. The books awarded are from a Hispanic and Latinx Heritage recommended reading list by the APS Library System. With a generous donation from Garcia Automotives we awarded Bookworks Gift Cards to first, second, and third place winners. 

APS Office of Equity and Engagement is grateful for all the essay entries received from Lowell, George I Sanchez, Rio Grande, Sandia, and West Mesa. Thank you to teachers, community school coordinators, librarians, and administration who motivated students to enter. APS Office of Equity and Engagement encourages all students to strengthen reading and writing skills as they proceed on their educational path.
