The APS Black scholar celebration commemorates and cherishes the accomplishments, memories, and triumphs of young Black/African American scholars in Albuquerque Public Schools.

Greetings from the Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) Office of Equity and Engagement (OEE).

We are excited to extend an invitation to the first APS Black Scholar Celebration on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. The APS Black scholar celebration commemorates and cherishes the accomplishments, memories, and triumphs of young Black/African American scholars in Albuquerque Public Schools. As they complete their academic journey of study, we are honored to present each graduating senior with a kente cloth. A kente cloth is a symbol of royal honor, ancestral connection, and reverence to the history of the Pan-African Movement. Together, family, APS, and the local community will gather to celebrate their scholars.
