4th grader at East San Jose Elementary School

Nusenda Credit Union, in partnership with the APS Education Foundation, highlights an APS student each week.

What Yareli's parents say about her: Like most kids her age, Yareli dreams and wishes in many areas of life and subjects and admires a  few "celebrities." Math comes a little easier for her. She likes subjects and topics that deal with logic and quantity. Her ability to express herself with confidence, security, and ease gives her an edge in communication. She likes to volunteer to help her classmates and others in any way she can.

What Yareli's teacher says about her: Yareli is a kind, hardworking student. Yareli is always ready to lend a hand to her peers or other students at ESJ. She checks in daily with a fellow kindergartner to make sure her kinder friend has a good day and stays focused. Yareli is fully bilingual and takes great pride in learning two languages, Spanish and English. Yareli has really risen this year with her academics. Yareli has become proficient/advanced in her reading and math.

Favorite subjects: Math, reading, English, and social studies are subjects she likes in school.

Hobbies and activities: Yareli not only shows great responsibility in class, but she is also very involved in before and after-school activities. She is a part of ESJ's Chess Club, soccer team, Ballet Folklorico de East San José, and is a member of the SWAT team in NDI (National Dance Institute). She really likes and enjoys dancing, singing, acting, and chess. Soccer is her favorite sport.
