Posted October 1, 2018, 7:00 AM. Updated September 21, 2018, 9:39 AM.

5th grader at Barcelona Elementary School

Nusenda Credit Union, in partnership with the APS Education Foundation, highlights an APS student each week.

What Onjay’s principal says about him: As the principal of Barcelona Elementary school these past 4 years, I have watched this young man grow up into a very well mannered, well-respected student who has great parents who are always engaged in our school. He has been in our peer mediators club, Barcelona Soccer team, after-school clubs and Fit Kids Club. He has social skills that are easily seen through the many friends he has and continues to make every year. I am very proud to nominate Onjay Riboni for his dedication, hard work and exceptional pride and school spirit at our school.

What Onjay's teacher says about him: I have known Onjay for the past 3 years. He has always been a helpful student, respectful of his peers and adults. As a student in my 5th-grade class, Onjay is always on task and has a great “never give up” attitude. Onjay has great parental support. His parents work with him to make sure he completes all home assignments. They both volunteer in our class and help to provide needed supplies for our class. Onjay sets goals and works to reach his goal. He is responsible for his actions and his academic success. Onjay is a friend to all students.
