Student of the Week: Hunter Havenor

Twelfth grade at Early College Academy

Congratulations to Hunter Havenor, a senior at Early College Academy, for being named the Student of the Week by the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union and the APS Education Foundation!

Tell us a little about your school experience:
My school experience has awesome over the past four years. The best part of my education is that all my teachers have been some of the coolest people I’ve ever met. I can’t stress enough how appreciative I am to have been taught by the teachers of ECA. I highly revere all of them individually and as a whole because without them, my schooling career wouldn’t have come this far. In addition to attending ECA, I also have played soccer at my home school, Valley. That’s been awesome — and I have definitely felt that this unique schooling path was the right fit for me.

What’s your favorite course?
My favorite course that I have taken would be the CEC Forensic Science course with Mr. Walker. I enjoyed this course a lot mainly because it transferred what we were learning into hands on labs. The class wasn’t a series of notes and tests; it was a series of intriguing and really fun hands on labs.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans go as far as taking life simply step by step. The goals right now are to get into a respectable university and continue my soccer career. As far as what field I want to enter, I’m leaning towards a more technical field that deals with mathematics of some sort.
