Posted April 23, 2019, 10:25 AM. Updated April 29, 2019, 10:54 AM.

Senior at West Mesa High School

Nusenda Credit Union, in partnership with the APS Education Foundation, highlights an APS student each week.

What Esperanza says about her school experience: These last four years as a Mustang have been the most memorable of my life. From being in the running for valedictorian to winning a basketball state title to almost having a mental breakdown every week from the countless honors and AP courses. Being in high school has taught me that making sacrifices now will only better prepare me for the future.

Favorite course: My favorite course through my high school years was English especially with the phenomenal teacher Mrs. Louann Fayter. Not only did she prepare me for English standardized testing but for the curveballs life throws at you. She helped me gain the confidence needed to survive out in the world.

Plans for the future: My plans for the future are to attend the United States Military Academy in the fall of 2019 and one day become an orthopedic doctor for the Army.
