Student of the Week: Ellie Ford

Congratulations to Ellie Ford, a 3rd grader at Hubert H. Humphrey Elementary School, for being named the Student of the Week by the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union and the APS Education Foundation.

About Ellie:

Ellie is a sweet and gentle soul with an absolutely amazing character for a 9-year-old. She has to be the most respectful girl you could ever meet. In fact, she won an award in Tucson for the 2010-2011 school year for being the most kind and respectful student in her grade. There really aren’t enough nice words to sufficiently describe Ellie. She is a quiet leader who leads by example in the classroom. Ellie makes sure that everyone is included and is the first to volunteer when something is needed. Many adults could learn from her actions. Our classroom is a better place because of her! Ellie was elected by her classmates to be the Class Representative for Student Council.

Favorite subjects:

Ellie is an excellent and enthusiastic student! She wants to learn and just soaks up everything that is said in the classroom. Ellie loves to write. She writes funny stories and is great at including dialogue in her stories. She recently wrote a book in class during her “spare” time. She loves to share her stories with the class and reads with great expression.

Hobbies or activities, both at school and outside of school:

Ellie likes to swim and is very good at it. She took second place in freestyle at Sundance (state swim meet) this past summer. According to Ellie’s mom, she adores her older brother and he is her best friend and she is his.
