Student of the Week: Brigette Lowe

Congratulations to Brigette Lowe, a 9th grader at Eldorado High School, for being named the Student of the Week by the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union and the APS Education Foundation.

Tell us a little about your school experience:

I went to Bosque Preparatory School for middle school. Then I transferred into Eldorado. Bosque is a very small school. My parents and Bosque taught me how important it is to be nice, have manners, and be a good student. With their help I am the person I am today. When I moved to Eldorado it was a big step. It was a tough transition, but with the help of my parents, good friends from Bosque, and the Eldorado staff I figured it all out pretty fast. After the first two days of school I was making some wonderful new friends, playing volleyball and starting to get the flow of things. All of the kids I have met so far have been nice to me. Now that I have been at Eldorado for awhile I really like it here. I am having a great time with the athletic, social, and academic aspects of school!

What’s your favorite course?

If I had to choose my top two it would be English honors and geometry honors. I chose those two because they both are challenges for me. I am not a natural writer but I work hard and push myself to exceed my expectations. Geometry is harder because you have to prove theorems and there are a lot more sentences involved. It is a lot different from Algebra, which I loved.

What are your plans for the future?

I want to get all A’s throughout high school. I would like to make all varsity teams for whatever sports I do by the time I am a junior and get a college scholarship for both academics and athletics. I also want to become an orthopedic surgeon. I can’t wait to accomplish all of my goals for the future!
