Student of the Week: Ariel Langford

Congratulations to Ariel Langford, a senior at West Mesa High School, for being named the Student of the Week by the New Mexico Educators Federal Credit Union and the APS Education Foundation.

Tell us a little about your school experience:

During my high school career I have been in student government all four years. My first day attending a senate meeting I met Mrs. Ruby Sandoval (WMHS Activities Director). I had overheard her telling another senator “Ariel is going to be Student Body President when she is a senior” and with her help I made that a reality! I was Freshman President, Sophomore President and Junior Vice President, and now I am serving as Student Body President for West Mesa High School. I have participated in the NMASC (New Mexico Association of Student Councils) spring state conference for three years. This year West Mesa hosted it and I was lucky enough to be one of the two Host School Coordinators for the spring conference called “Leadership through the Decades.”

What’s your favorite course?

My favorite course is English because it is my best subject. I love to read and write.

What are your plans for the future?

After I graduate I will attend a four-year college and attain a bachelor’s degree in business.
