Run for the Gold Returns to Governor Bent Elementary
Event set for March 7.
Lace up your running shoes—Governor Bent Elementary’s Run for the Gold is back on March 7. This exciting on-campus race brings students together for friendly competition, fitness and fun. With race bibs, medals, an inflatable finish line and post-run snacks, it’s a true mini-race experience.
Organization of the special event is supported by a Governor Bent teacher who co-owns RunFit, ensuring students learn to love running and movement as part of their daily routine. Principal Laura Chiang shared her hopes for the event, saying:
"Of course, physical activity and fitness are so important, but it’s also about self-regulation. We want our kiddos to know that physical movement is a self-regulation strategy they can participate in. It’s an opportunity for students to participate in a community event, have a great memory around it, and experience something they might not normally have."
Families and community partners are encouraged to come cheer on the runners!
