Public Invited to Review Social Studies Textbooks
Teachers and members of the school community are invited to review and give input on proposed high-quality instructional materials for middle and high school students.
Albuquerque Public Schools is reviewing 6-8 and 9-12 grade social studies textbooks and wants your feedback.
The district plans to purchase textbooks and materials that will support teachers as they provide students with engaging, authentic, and relevant opportunities for learning that emphasize inquiry, align with state standards, provide supports for students' needs, and value students’ individual assets and interests.
APS is seeking input from the community as part of its textbook review. Parents, guardians, family members, employees, teachers, and community members are invited to review textbooks.
The district is seeking community input to help identify the two strongest programs for APS students in grades 6-8 and 9-12. Then, based on ongoing input from current social studies educators, the final part of this review process will take place at each school, through their Instructional Council. This will allow each school community to make the best recommendation for their specific school community, and will provide more local opportunities for educator and community review.
