CEC to Host First-Ever Career Pathway Award Ceremony
Event celebrates student success, career exploration and the power of partnerships.
Fifty standout students from 17 different high schools across Albuquerque Public Schools will be honored at the Career Enrichment Center’s first-ever Career Pathway Award Ceremony on Thursday, April 24, at 6 p.m. The event will be held at the Career Enrichment Center, located at 807 Mountain Road NE.
This exciting new celebration will recognize students who have committed to a rigorous and purposeful path, taking multiple years of specialized coursework through a CEC Career Pathway and, in many cases, participating in internships and maintaining high academic achievement.
“This award and award event is our first ever. We are hoping to rally and support these dedicated students,” said Miskee Blatner, education professions career pathway teacher and work-based learning coordinator at the Career Enrichment Center. “This is an opportunity to celebrate these dedicated students who have taken, in some cases, three years in a career pathway and participated in an internship, which is incredible!”
To be eligible for the Career Pathway Award, students must have completed a sequence of career pathway courses at CEC, met minimum grade requirements, and, for some, achieved a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher throughout their career pathway journey. All recipients will receive a green and blue honor cord to wear at graduation, a certificate of achievement, and for those who met the GPA distinction, a medal of excellence.
The ceremony will bring together CEC administration and teachers, families, community members and business partners—many of whom helped make student internships possible by opening their doors and mentoring students along the way.
The Career Pathways program at CEC is an example of APS’s Goal 3 in action. These students are exploring careers, applying classroom knowledge in real-world settings and gaining the skills, confidence and clarity they need to pursue their post-secondary goals.
Families, businesses, mentors and community supporters are invited to join in recognizing these students and the powerful partnerships that support them. Mark your calendars and help us celebrate the next generation of educators, healthcare professionals and more.
