APS Wins Prestigious Award for its 2024-2025 Budget
District recognized for presenting budget that is accessible and accurate.
Albuquerque Public Schools has earned the prestigious Meritorious Budget Award for excellence in budget presentation.
The Association of School Business Officials International announced the award in a news release issued on Sunday. The recognition is for the fiscal year 2024-2025 budget.
“Presenting a budget that is both accessible and accurate is crucial for school districts to clearly communicate and build trust with their communities,” Jim Rowan, the organization’s executive director said in the release. “The Meritorious Budget Award program provides districts with the resources and tools to do just that, and the districts that receive the award are recognized for their commitment to upholding nationally recognized budget presentation standards.”
To qualify for the award, APS submitted its budget documents to a panel of school financial professionals who reviewed the materials for compliance with the organization’s rigorous standards. The Meritorious Budget Award is given to districts that meet those stringent standards.
“A lot of preparation, collaboration, and hard work go into preparing our annual budget,” said APS Chief Financial Officer Rennette Apodaca. “We’re excited to receive this award because it confirms that we’re meeting national standards in budget reporting, transparency, and accountability.”
