APS Reviving Hall of Honor for '25
Know of great former employees of APS? You can nominate them through June 6.
Albuquerque Public Schools’ Hall of Honor will have a few more additions this fall.
APS has announced the district will seek nominations for the hall between now and the end of May and will name new honorees later this summer. Nominations are being accepted through June 6, said Phill Casaus, executive director for the Communications and Engagement Department.
The Hall began several years ago under the auspices of the APS Education Foundation, but suspended during COVID-19. Casaus said a committee of district employees and outside community members will name at least three recipients – with one being a teacher who has spent at least 15 years in the classroom.
“The great untold story of APS is the commitment and dedication of its employees, both inside and outside the classroom,” Casaus said. “The Hall is a recognition of their work – and also a testament to the thousands of people who have graced the district through the years with their abilities. We can’t recognize everyone, but we can honor some.”
Previous honorees include classroom teachers, principals, innovative department heads, a member of the district’s police department, and of course, John Milne, who headed the district for decades in the 20th century.
Stylized portraits of the honorees hang near the entrance of APS headquarters at City Center. A recognition lunch will be scheduled in the fall to honor the recipients.
