APS Finance Department Receives National Award for 10th Straight Year
The Albuquerque Public Schools Finance Department has been awarded a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting by a national organization with more than 21,000 members.
The Government Finance Officers Association lauded the Finance Department for its report in the fiscal year ending in June 2023. An impartial panel judged the document to meet program standards and convey the district's financial picture in a “spirit of full disclosure.”
It is the 10th consecutive year APS has received the honor.
Key preparers in the 2022-23 financial report were district controller Amanda Boyle and executive director of accounting, Mark Turnbull.
Turnbull said all 68 members in the office “play an important role in supporting the audit, which ensures the district achieves an unmodified audit opinion, which is required for the award.”
The APS Finance Department is headed by Chief Financial Officer Renette Apodaca.
