Ruidoso in Our Thoughts and Prayers

Posted June 20, 2024, 4:15 PM. Updated July 1, 2024, 8:13 AM.

A message from incoming Superintendent Gabriella Blakey on the fires burning in Ruidoso

We’ve been watching in horror as wildfires in Ruidoso have claimed two lives, damaged more than 1,400 structures, and displaced thousands of families. Our thoughts and prayers are with our neighbors to the south as they deal with this crisis. I’ve reached out to the Ruidoso Municipal School superintendent to let her know we stand ready to support their school community in any way we can.

Whenever a natural disaster affects schoolchildren, their families, and staff, we, as educators, can’t help but feel for those who are hurting. These incidents create a high level of anxiety. I can’t emphasize enough that student and staff safety is always a top priority in Albuquerque Public Schools. We are here to support the Ruidoso community in any way we can.
