Changes were made to offer support for families by consolidating parent-teacher conference days for students in K-12.
APS has made slight changes to the March calendar to eliminate the interruption of instructional time for middle school students.
If the original calendar had been left in place, APS middle schoolers would have been off for two days, returned to class for one day, and then been off for Spring Break.
To address the issue, APS and the Albuquerque Teachers Federation agreed on changes to the calendar.
Under the amended calendar:
- Friday, March 22 will be a regular school day for middle and high school students. Elementary students will be off for a professional development day, except those attending Coyote Willow, Desert Willow, and all TOPS schools.
- Monday, March 25 will be a regular school day for high school students and students attending Coyote Willow and Desert Willow. Navajo Elementary students will have school from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. All other elementary school students will be off for parent-teacher conferences and middle school students will be off for a professional development day.
- Tuesday, March 26 will be a parent-teacher conference day for elementary, middle, and high school. All three groups will be off.
Spring Break begins on March 27, with students returning to class on April 8.
