A look at what to expect and what's not allowed at commencement ceremonies.
It’s graduation season at Albuquerque Public Schools, with graduation ceremonies for most APS high schools being held the week of May 20.
If you’re planning to attend any of the graduation ceremonies be prepared to walk through a metal detector. APS will have multiple metal detectors set up at each of the venues, please allow extra time to get through security screenings. Only clear bags will be allowed in APS Graduations. As in prior years, all bags will be searched.
Other items not allowed at APS graduation ceremonies are:
- Food
- Beverages, including water
- Balloons
- Signs
- Noisemakers
- And glass of any kind, including flower vases.
Flowers will be available to purchase to give to your graduate at Tingley Coliseum with a portion of the proceeds being donated back to the high schools.
