APS Board is Seeking Input on Next Year's Budget
Two public forums will be held later this month to hear from the community.
The Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education is once again asking for community input as budget officials begin the process of building the district’s budget.
“Just as the board passionately pursued the district’s goals and guardrails and successfully led a nationwide search for a new superintendent, the board is now enthusiastic about ensuring that you have a say in the 2024-2025 APS budget so it truly mirrors the visions and values of the community,” the board said in an invitation to the community to attend two public forums.
The schedule for the events is:
- 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, at the Berna Facio Professional Development Complex, 3315 Louisiana Blvd. NE
- 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28, at Lyndon B. Johnson Middle School, 6811 Taylor Ranch Dr. NW
Light refreshments will be served, and there will be a drawing for giveaways at the end of each event.
The Feb. 26 event will be live-streamed and posted on the APS Board of Education YouTube channel. Spanish and Sign Language interpretation will be provided, and anyone needing translation in another language should email boarded@aps.edu
APS board members are focused on improving student outcomes. Part of that commitment means adopting an annual budget that will create the conditions for the school district to accomplish the vision for what the community wants students to know, otherwise known as the goals, while honoring the values of the community, which the district has listed as its guardrails.
