Photography, Films by APS Students Featured in Albuquerque Museum Exhibit
'Focus on Youth' Exhibit opens May 6 and will be on display until June 4.
The Albuquerque Museum is opening an exhibit on May 6 featuring nearly 100 photographs and short films created by Albuquerque Public Schools high school students.
“Focus on Youth” is part of a multi-decade partnership between the APS Fine Arts Department and Albuquerque Museum to highlight the creativity and insights of youth photographers and filmmakers. The partnership gives students a rare opportunity to exhibit their work in a museum.
“Albuquerque Museum is honored to provide space to celebrate the work of these young artists,” said Andrew Connors, the museum’s director. “This annual exhibition has always been a great way to showcase the amazing talent and creativity of these local high school students over the years and provides excellent exposure for their craft.”
The works on display were submitted by art teachers and then juried into the show by professional photographers and photography educators. The work includes a range of techniques, such as silver print, digital and special techniques in photography, art books, and digital film.
The exhibit is on display May 6 to June 4. A reception and awards ceremony will take place from 1p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 7.
