Celebrating Native American Ancestry & Traditions

November is Native American Heritage Month

About 5 percent of APS students -- roughly 3,700 -- are of Native American descent, hailing from more than 100 American Indian/Alaska Native tribes.

The APS Indian Education Department, established nearly half a decade ago, helps connect the growing urban population of Native American students with their Native culture and traditions. Classroom and resource teachers use multi-sensory and differentiated instruction and Indigenous evaluation and assessments to empower and strengthen student self-esteem and academic skills.
