APS Seniors Encouraged to Apply for Varsity Award Scholarship
Seven $1,000 awards available
APS students graduating in May who are planning to attend college, trade school or other post-secondary education have a shot at one of seven $1,000 scholarships just by showing they’re taking steps to further their education.
The deadline to apply for the APS Education Foundation’s Varsity Award scholarship is March 31. Students can go to the Varsity Awards page for more information and to apply.
The innovative scholarship program rewards students for taking such steps as applying to college or a trade school; filing paperwork for federal financial aid; touring a college or university and even completing an Advanced Placement test during their senior year. In all, there are 10 such actions seniors can take to qualify for the scholarships.
Their names are then entered into a drawing for the seven scholarships. Students who show they completed all 10 categories receive up to 10 entries for the drawing, which will be held in May.
Student members of the APS Education Foundation Board established the criteria for the scholarship.
