Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest

Mi Familia/My Family Essay Contest.

Entries accepted through Sept. 23. Winners will be announced at the Hispanic Heritage Celebration on October 4, 2019, at Albuquerque High School.

PURPOSE

The family is important in society because it serves as the core foundation of a person’s character, personal growth, identity, and individuality. Your values, beliefs, and personality come from your family, and your family members are your first teachers. Family is truly important to the Hispanic Culture as it is for many other cultures. From September 15th to October 15th each year, our nation celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month. The purpose of this celebration is to recognize the contributions and vital presence of Hispanic and Latino Americans in the United States. Please reflect on your family or one family member. Why are they important to you? You may want to identify a time your family member(s) influenced you in a positive way or made an impact on your life. You may know the history of your family and may want to recount that history.
