Furloughed Families Can Apply for Free School Meals

The application is available year-round for families in need.

Federal employees furloughed by the government shutdown can apply for free or reduced-price meals with an online application in English or Spanish that walks them through the process.

Only one application is needed per family, even when children attend different APS schools.

Students who attend any of the more than 80 APS schools that qualify for the Community Eligibility Provision don't need to fill out an application for free or reduced-price meals -- all students at these schools can get breakfast and lunch for free.

The online application also is available through the APS breakfast and lunch menu mobile app, YumYummi, which you can download from Google Play or iTunes App Store.

Paper applications also are available at schools that don't qualify for the Community Eligibility Provision.
