Grab and Go Meals

Families can pick up a week's worth of meals on Mondays. In mid-August, families will need school-issued tickets to pick up meals.

Schedule Beginning August 3rd

  • Mondays from 11 AM–12:30 PM or 4–5:30 PM.
  • On Mondays, families will pick up a week's worth of meals.
  • Starting August 17, bring pre-printed tickets to pick up meals (available Aug. 13 and 14 at your child's school.)

The schedule will be adjusted when holidays fall on Mondays.

Bring Pre-Printed Tickets Starting August 17

  • On August 13 and 14 from 7–9 AM or 11 AM–1 PM, pick up pre-printed meal tickets from your child's school.
  • Beginning August 17, bring the pre-printed tickets when you pick up meals.
  • The tickets will include the student's name, ID number, and school.
  • The tickets will help APS track meals as required by the USDA National School Lunch Program, which reimburses school districts for meals.

Guidelines for Families

  1. APS asks families to wear a face-covering when picking up meals, like a homemade mask or a scarf. Face coverings are not required, and families without face coverings may still pick up meals.
  2. APS requests that you do not bring animals to the Grab and Go sites, including in your cars.

2020-2021 Meal Assistance Eligibility

During distance learning, APS will provide grab and go lunches at no charge to students who qualify or who attend any of the Community Eligibility Provision Schools. Distribution times and sites are yet to be determined.

Pandemic Benefit Transfer Program

Families will need to fill out the application again after July 1 for the 2020-2021 school year.

New Mexico families with children who receive free or reduced-price meals can receive additional food benefits through the federal Pandemic Benefit Transfer Program. Qualified families will receive benefits of $5.70 per child/per day for the 70-day period from March 16, when public schools were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, through June 19.

Families will receive Pandemic-EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) cards, used like debit cards to buy groceries. The benefit will be deposited directly to existing EBT cards for families already receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits.

The program will also benefit families that did not previously qualify for free or reduced-price meals but may now be eligible due to changes in their household’s circumstances as a result of the restrictions implemented for non-essential businesses because of the COVID-19 response.

Those families should fill out a Free and Reduced Price School Meal Application online. If determined eligible, their children will receive Pandemic-EBT, and the benefit will be issued for the month determined eligible through June.

They must apply and learn if they will be eligible for meals at reduced or no cost.

Community Eligibility Provision Schools (No Need to Submit an Application)

Students who attend all other APS schools, identified as Community Eligibility Provision Schools, are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch at no charge.

Families at Community Eligibility Provision Schools do not need to apply for free and reduced-price school meals.

For students who don't qualify, online prepayments for meals can be made at MySchoolBucks. There is a small fee associated with this service. More information is available on the APS Food and Nutrition Services website.

Application Directions

  • Only one application is needed per family, even if children attend different APS schools.
  • Applications must be filled out every year. Families are encouraged to complete the application by mid-September.

Paper applications are available at APS Food and Nutrition Services, 800 Louisiana Blvd NE, between 7 am – 3 pm Monday through Friday. 

Note: Families can also apply through the APS breakfast and lunch menu mobile app, YumYummi, which you can download from Google Play or iTunes App Store.

APS Food and Nutrition Services provides complete meals to all students; no child is ever denied regardless of eligibility. We accept monetary donations to help cover the cost for students in need.
