APS Education Foundation Announces 2020 Selfless Seniors

The Foundation, in partnership with Frank Frost Photography, recognizes seniors in high school who strive to make our community a better place.

Recognizing the philanthropic spirit of the Albuquerque Public Schools student body through the examples of 14 outstanding seniors in high school, the APS Education Foundation will honor this year's Selfless Seniors at Sandia Resort & Casino during Gold Bar 2020. Throughout the spring semester, the Foundation will be sharing their stories of hope, hard work, and service.

Selfless Seniors are difficult to identify because their contributions to the community have not been recognized. Selfless Seniors are truly selfless in that they give back because they feel called to do so, not to receive praise or accolades. The Foundation receives nominations from across the city. A selection committee of volunteers review the nominations and select one student to represent each traditional APS high school and one to represent APS magnet schools.

The studio provides each Selfless Senior their senior portrait and works with the Foundation and schools across the district to acknowledge community service through this unique recognition program. Kelsie Cano of Frank Frost Photography serves on the Gold Bar Committee as the Selfless Seniors Chair. She writes, “To me, and Frank Frost, it is so important to celebrate these amazing individuals! The Selfless Seniors are such an integral part of APS and Albuquerque because their selfless acts help not only themselves but their peers to connect with others in a way that builds true relationships between people and their community.”
