Sisters Pay Utility Bills for Two Kirtland ES Families

Linda K. Green and Judy Larson wanted to help families in need in memory of their mom.

Warm memories of their mother’s generosity and a genuine wish to help families in need have led a pair of Albuquerque sisters to make Christmas warmer for two Albuquerque families.

Sisters Linda K. Greene and Judy Larson established the Edna N. Greene Holiday Fund earlier this year in hopes of helping families during the holidays. And on Tuesday, their gift – in memory of their mom, Edna – helped pay utility bills for two Kirtland Elementary School families and provide a variety of Christmas gifts to their many children.

“Linda and Judy are not the kind of people who want to bring undue attention to themselves, but we thought the very least we could do is offer a public thank you – both to them and their late mother,” said APS Education Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus. “They are wonderful to do this for people they don’t even know.”

Community Coordinator Maria Marquez and Volunteer Programs Manager Sonja Martens were instrumental in identifying these families and their needs. The Edna N. Greene Holiday Fund is held by the APS Education Foundation.

The families learned of the gift on Wednesday (Dec. 17).
