Landscape Firm Renews Commitment to Horizon Campaign

Westwind Landscape Construction pledges another $10,000 for school programs, bringing its total contribution to the APS Education Foundation to $35,000.

Westwind Landscape Construction has renewed its commitment to the students who attend Albuquerque Public Schools.

The locally owned landscape contractor is donating $10,000 to the APS Education Foundation’s Horizon Campaign – its third large donation to the Foundation in as many years. Overall, the company has donated $35,000 to the Foundation.

“Westwind’s roots are in Albuquerque and I think that shows in the way it gives back to our community,” said Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus. “Rick Brown and his team have a genuine dedication to helping our schools and we’re very grateful for all they do.”

Westwind has served the Albuquerque area for 20 years and specializes in work for public agencies, educational institutions, plus commercial and residential clients.

The Horizon Campaign is the Foundation’s push to raise more than $1 million in private funding for four major APS programs – Fine Arts, Middle/High School Activities, Literacy and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). Money collected in the campaign helps fund the Horizon Awards, competitive teacher grants in those four major categories. The springtime recipients of Horizon Awards will be announced in April.
