HB Construction Supports Broader Horizons

The firm built Sandia's new science/math building and library, which will be dedicated Thursday, Aug. 28

HB Construction, which built Sandia High School’s new science/math building and library, also is helping erect the APS Education Foundation’s Broader Horizons campaign.

The Albuquerque firm recently donated $5,000 to the Foundation’s effort to assist learning in Albuquerque Public Schools. HB is among the first to commit to the campaign, which officially began in August.

“HB Construction is well-known in APS as doing a quality job, on-time,” said Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus. “But Jason Harrington, his family and his team there also deeply care about what goes on when school opens and kids walk inside those buildings. We’re grateful for their dedication.”

The Foundation plans to direct nearly $350,000 to APS classrooms and students through Horizon Awards, small in-classroom grants, plus other larger efforts such as the Achieve, Success and Varsity Awards.

HB Construction recently was named the General Contractor of the Year in the small company category by the American Subcontractors Association of New Mexico. In addition to Phase 1 of the Sandia High project, the firm also is building the new Bernalillo High School and has a variety of other projects throughout the state.

Jason Harrington is the president and CEO of HB Construction. His wife, Rebecca, has volunteered to help read Horizon Award grants in the past.

APS will celebrate the opening of the new building and library at Sandia Thursday, Aug. 28 at 3:30 p.m.
