A is for Art! set records for sales and attendance thanks to dozens of hard-working volunteers and community-minded art lovers who believe in public education.

APS Education Foundation Executive Director Phill Casaus said the event netted more than $42,000 after expenses and the artists were paid. The remainder is split between the Foundation and the APS Fine Arts Department.

“We had 205 pieces of student and teacher artwork and all sold, which is a first for the event,” Casaus said. “We were very proud of our entertainers and the talents of our visual artists, and I think the folks who came to Hotel Albuquerque for the evening had a great time.”

Former Rio Grande High student Ana Oaxaca, now a student at the University of New Mexico, sold a painting for $3,000 at the event, a record for a non-sculpture item.
