Manager of KANW radio station is one of four appointed members of the seven-member board.

The appointment of Michael Brasher, manager of Albuquerque Public Schools’ KANW radio station, to the New Mexico State Board of Finance was confirmed earlier this month by the New Mexico Senate.

Brasher, who has worked for the district since 1975, is one of four appointed members of the seven-member board, which oversees the fiscal affairs of the state. The Board of Finance is charged with the safekeeping of all money belonging to the state, and has the authority to issue general obligation bonds and severance tax revenue bonds.

“On behalf of the Albuquerque Public Schools, I congratulate Michael on his appointment to this important state body,” said APS Superintendent Winston Brooks.

As an appointed member of the board, Brasher will serve a two-year term. Gov. Susana Martinez, who makes the appointments to the board, is the president of the board. The other two permanent members of the board are the Lieutenant Governor (John Sanchez) and the New Mexico State Treasurer (James B. Lewis).
