Teacher of the Month Lily Martino, Jefferson MS

For the seventh year, the APS Education Foundation is partnering with Pepsi to recognize some of our outstanding teachers.

In her 25 years as a teacher, Lily Martino’s primary focus has been preparing students for a lifetime of success. The seventh grade health teacher at Jefferson Middle School does this by providing the knowledge and skills her students need to be successful inside and outside the classroom. 

“I’m prepared for them every single day, so their makeup work, their notes, anything they need is always ready for them,” Martino said. “I am always helping students to be able to be successful in class.”

Lily Martino is the Pepsi/APS Education Foundation Teacher of the Month for August. 

Pepsi and the APS Education Foundation have partnered for the past seven years to recognize a few of the district’s outstanding teachers for their contributions to the classroom, school and community.

The Foundation randomly selects one APS school each month, and that school’s principal or staff chooses a teacher to be honored. The teacher receives a $100 check from Pepsi and acknowledgement on the APS website, Facebook page and electronic billboards.

They receive a small token of appreciation, but represent the many outstanding teachers in Albuquerque Public Schools.
