APS Launches Employee Recognition Program

Posted November 19, 2018, 11:15 AM. Updated September 21, 2020, 2:02 PM.

Any individual who has been employed by Albuquerque Public Schools for six months or longer is eligible to be nominated for the Employee Recognition.

If you are employed by Albuquerque Public Schools, you know two things:

  • APS is the city’s largest employer and
  • We have some of the most dedicated professionals on our team.

Now it's time to give these employees the recognition they deserve through the newly launched Employee Recognition Program.

APS has about 14,000 employees including teachers, principals, counselors, nurses, IT techs, bus drivers, education assistants, custodians, cafeteria workers, secretaries, coaches and many more. We have amazing professionals in our ranks who deserve a little attention, gratitude and star treatment.

It’s very likely you know a deserving APS employee who makes us all proud. Someone who goes above and beyond, elevates their profession and demonstrates daily why the people who make public education possible are valued in our schools and homes.

Any individual who has been employed by Albuquerque Public Schools for six months or longer is eligible to be nominated for the Employee Recognition.

How to nominate an employee

You can nominate an employee by filling out an online applicationThe nomination must be completed by someone other than the nominee (i.e., no self-nominations are eligible for consideration).

Award recipients will be selected monthly by a Peer Praise Taskforce. Each recipient will get a shout out on APS electronic billboards around town, enjoy lunch with the superintendent or her designee, be recognized before the APS Board of Education and receive a lasting memento of the honor.

So, please take the time to nominate a friend, colleague, client, employee, role model or supervisor who deserves to be celebrated! You’ll find the criteria for the award on the application. The judging committee needs your compelling nomination to ensure the most deserving employees are selected to represent the district.

It’s common knowledge that professionals who choose to work in public education don’t do it for the money or recognition, which makes this campaign even more meaningful.

Please, take this opportunity to tell the world that we get it – our extraordinary professionals drive what really matters in our community.
