APS Earns Prestigious Financial Award
The Association of School Business Officials International commended the school district for meeting high standards for financial reporting and transparency.
Albuquerque Public Schools earned the Certificate of Excellence for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending 2019.
The mission of the Certificate of Excellence program is to promote and recognize excellence in financial reporting, specifically through a district’s comprehensive annual financial report, according to the association. The financial report informs stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, making it an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the school community.
By participating in the program, school districts like APS demonstrate their commitment to financial transparency, according to the association's Executive Director David Lewis.
APS submitted its financial report for review by a team of financial professionals, who provide feedback to improve future documents. If the report meets the requirements of the program, it may receive the Certificate of Excellence. A district’s participation in the program can facilitate bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes.
The program is sponsored by the Association of School Business Officials International Strategic Partner American Fidelity.
