APS Bus Drivers Take Steps to Form a Union

The Board of Education accepted a petition signed by more than 30 percent of those who would be represented by the collective bargaining unit.
A Notice of Request to form a bus drivers' union has been posted on the APS Labor Relations and Negotiated Agreements website.
The notice was posted on behalf of the Albuquerque Educational Assistants Association Local 4129, AFT New Mexico, American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO.
The proposed union would include about 230 APS bus drivers and attendants. Another 365 or so drivers and attendants who work for independent bus contractors would not be eligible to join the union.
