Nominations are now being accepted for the Albuquerque Public Schools Selfless Seniors honor, awarded to APS high school students in recognition of their commitment to promoting positive change in the lives of others. During these times of great uncertainty, high school seniors who reach out to lift up others mean more to our communities, including our school communities, than ever.

Online application deadline has been extended to Oct. 30.

Later this fall, a volunteer selection committee will review the nominations and select one Selfless Senior to represent each APS traditional high school and one to represent APS magnet schools.

Eligible seniors must be in good standing at their schools and must have demonstrated a willingness to help their neighbors, friends, schools or communities – often without recognition.

Best of all, Frank Frost Photography captures the essence of these students with portraits that are displayed at every APS high school, in businesses and billboards around town and at the Albuquerque International Sunport.

Due to the pandemic, the 2020 Selfless Seniors picked up their senior portraits from the Frank Frost Photography studio over the summer.  They are on their way to change the world with the high school portrait that represents their earliest acts of philanthropy.

“We have thousands of wonderful students in APS, and this event has become a way to pinpoint some of our best,” said Shannon Barnwell, the APS Education Foundation Executive Director. “Nobody walks away from Selfless Seniors without knowing our future is a bright one.”
