Clothing Bank Helps Thousands of Students

The APS Community Clothing Bank provides shoe vouchers, underwear and socks, clothing vouchers, hoodies and light jackets, winter coats, formal attire for prom, and school supply kits.

The Albuquerque Public Schools Community Clothing Bank reduces barriers to learning by meeting the basic needs of students so they can attend school and focus on instruction.

The Clothing Bank provides new shoes, socks, and underwear, and gently used clothes (including jackets and coats). School supplies for students and teachers and formal wear are also garnered and distributed.

Through the help of volunteers and community contributions of items and cash donations, the Clothing Bank makes a visible difference in the lives of APS students.

Last year the APS Community Clothing Bank supported students in need with

  • 1,456 Shoe Vouchers and pairs of shoes
  •  2,341 Pairs of New Underwear and Socks
  • 2,392 Clothing Vouchers so students could shop for clothing at Goodwill locations across the city
  •  2,137 Hoodies and Light Jackets
  • 2,245 Winter Coats
  •  214 Formal Attire items through our Prom Trunk Shows
  • 3,925 School Supply Kits

The Clothing Bank has no recurring annual operating budget and is run by one full-time employee, two part-time employees and a part-time manager.

Due to the small staff, the Clothing Bank depends on volunteers. Transition Services students provide a good portion of this support, while also having access to a critical work opportunity.
