2020-2021 School Transfer Requests Now Being Accepted

Submit an online application or visit the APS Student Service Center.

Families who would like their child to attend an APS school outside their assigned attendance area in 2020-2021 may request a transfer online beginning Jan. 1, 2020. 

Requests may also be completed in the Student Service Center on the first floor of the Albuquerque Public Schools administration building, 6400 Uptown Blvd. NE beginning Jan. 2. Upon the successful submission of an online transfer request, families should receive a confirmation number.

Parents will need to know each student’s ID number if they are currently an APS student or have ever attended an APS school.

If a student does not have an APS ID number, parents will need to create a ParentVue account.  Instructions for creating a ParentVue account can be found on the APS Transfers webpage. Once an ID number has been generated, a transfer request may be submitted.

The first window for transfer applications runs through Jan. 31.

Transfers are granted on a space and program available basis using a random selection process (lottery) and priority system, which complies with district, state, and federal requirements.

Transfers are not on a first-come, first-served basis; requests will be processed as having been received on the same day during each transfer window.

Students who currently have an approved transfer do not need to reapply unless they want to change schools. However, students who are transitioning from elementary to middle school or middle school to high school do need to apply for a transfer if they want to attend a school outside their assigned area.
