Welcome to the Class of 2028

Monday was the first day of school for most of our 5,600+ kindergarteners.

It was a day of firsts in a kindergarten classroom at Zuni Elementary on Monday.

It was the first day of school for the five year olds in Corinne Johnson's brightly decorated classroom.

And It was the first day of teaching for Johnson, a 2010 La Cueva High graduate who just finished up her degree at UNM.

It was also a day of hope, excitement and expectations as parents outlined goals for their precious little ones:

"I hope he makes friends."

"I hope she learns her letters."

"I hope she learns to count passed 8."

"I hopes he learns to read."
