Superintendent's Cup Raises $50,000

Dr. Valentino welcomes, thanks more than 240 golfers.

More than 240 golfers and dozens of firms joined to make the APS Education Foundation’s Superintendent’s Cup the most successful in its four-year history.

The event, presented by B&D Industries, raised more than $51,000 for the Foundation as it works to help Albuquerque Public Schools.

This year’s event was held at the Canyon Club at Four Hills and over 50 volunteers – many of them students -- joined in the effort to make the effort a successful one.

Ryan Kennedy, who signed up his company to participate for their first time this year,  said: “Thank you APS for giving Copper State Bolt & Nut Co. the opportunity to support our schools and our local students. We thoroughly enjoyed participating in this event and can’t wait to support APS in the future.”

Local community partners such as B&D Industries, Concentra, Morrison Supply, TIG and RBC Capital Markets were just a few of the many businesses who came to sponsor the tournament.  Tucanos Brazilian Grill, Papa John’s Pizza and Pepsi donated food and drink for all the golfers and the volunteers.

Adrian Chavez of Pepsi,  who serves on the APS Education Foundation Board of Directors, said, “Once again I am so impressed with how many friends APS has and how willing they are to come out and support the Foundation.  The goal was to raise money for the Foundation to put back into the classroom but it was also to share the story of the APS Education Foundation.  Both were accomplished and I am so grateful to see our community step up for our schools.”
