APS Board of Education Chooses Officers

Dr. David Peercy elected president; Lorenzo Garcia chosen vice-president

The Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education elected new officers and swore in newly elected members at their regular meeting on March 2.

Dr. David Peercy, who represents District 7, was elected president and Lorenzo Garcia, who represents District 3 was elected vice-president. Steven Michael Quezada, who represents Dist. 5, was elected to continue as secretary for the board. The officers serve one-year terms.

The Board also chose new committee chairpersons for 2016-17. Barbara Petersen will continue to serve as chairperson of the Equity and Engagement Committee, while Peggy Muller-Aragón will continue to chair the Finance Committee and Garcia will chair the Audit Committee.

Board member Dr. Analee Maestas will serve as chairperson of the Capital Outlay, Property and Technology Committee and Dr. Don Duran will chair the Policy and Instruction Committee.
