Monte Vista Hosts Parade to Celebrate Kindness

The parade culminated a week of activities centered on the Great Kindness Challenge that encouraged students to perform as many acts of kindness as possible.

Monte Vista Elementary School hosted a parade Friday, Jan. 30, complete with kazoos, horns and signs to celebrate a week of kind acts committed as part of the international Great Kindness Challenge.

All 500+ students at the school along with teachers and staff participated in the parade organized by Counselor Stella Krauss.

The wet and dreary day didn't dampen the spirits of students who walked around the perimeter of their school celebrating a week devoted to performing as many acts of kindness as possible from smiling at people to picking up trash to lending a pencil.

At Monte Vista, students shared inspirational quotes, wrote positive messages, worked on a school mural of hearts and painted peace signs on their faces among other activities.

Last year, more than half a million students around the world participated in the Great Kindness challenge, inspiring more than 27 million acts of kindness.
