Job Overview

Job Description

Assists in the preparation, serving and clean-up of school Food Service programs. Responsible for keeping inventory of kitchen equipment, materials and supplies and replenishing supplies as needed. Communicate with the school’s food vendor and order the appropriate amount of food. Responsible for keeping accurate records of Daily Temperature Logs and Daily Food Service Count Forms, as well as maintaining accurate records of cleaning dates. Responsible for completing monthly reporting forms and entering data on the state website. Ensure compliance for maintaining certifications in food service safety and any other required documentations to keep the kitchen in compliance with all food safety codes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists in the preparation, serving and clean-up for a variety of foods.
  • Prepares, sets-up and serves food for serving lines.
  • Performs cashiering duties, including receiving and depositing money.
  • Operates and cleans kitchen equipment.
  • Performs clean-up duties, including sweeping, mopping, pot and dish washing.
  • Maintains accurate records and completes required paperwork and data entry for the Food Service Program.

Required Skills

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience

  • Hourly position that works an average of 2 to 3 hours per day and works on an as needed basis.
  • Most common works hours range from 10:30AM – 12:30PM am
  • Position only available when schools are in session.
  • Work mostly consists of dishwashing and other cleaning, helping prepare and serve meals, maintain accurate records and complete required reporting.
  • Fast paced and requires that the employee work quickly and efficiently.
  • Work requires some physical stamina, ability to maneuver and lift heavy objects and being on your feet for a few hours.

Requirements

  • Must complete background check
  • The employee must frequently lift (including above shoulders) and move up to 35 pounds in supplies which requires bending, stooping and lifting. The employee must use hands and arms to manipulate objects.
  • Must have high standards of personal hygiene.
  • Satisfactory completion of training in food sanitation and safety upon hire.
  • Must have rudimentary computer skills in order to access State data entry site to keep and report accurate information regarding the Food Service Program.

Additional Information

  • Salary: $15/hourly
  • Hours: 10-15 hours per week, 190-200 days per year (pending funding for ELTP)
