High School Social Studies


South Valley Academy seeks a qualified Social Studies instructor. SVA Social Studies courses are rooted in the present (students' lived experiences, current events, contemporary issues/debates), explore complexities of the past, and prepare students to be active participants in the future. Our curricular practices are grounded in critical social justice principles, and social studies teachers should have a well-developed social justice framework that embraces anti-racist, anti-oppression values. An ideal candidate is experienced with differentiating for a wide range of learners, including English Learners, and willing to co-plan/co-teach with a Special Education Teacher. Teachers are also advisors at SVA, and candidates with experience building relationships with students and serving as advisors are encouraged to apply. Job Preferences

  • Strong bilingual communication skills—oral and written, English and Spanish NM Teaching License
  • Familiarity with Albuquerque’s South Valley
