Service Learning Teacher

South Valley Academy is currently seeking to fill their open Service Learning Teacher position.

Job Overview

The Service Learning Department consists of three Service Learning teachers that work collaboratively to provide students with transformative learning experiences through community involvement, community-based research, and project implementation. This program is grounded in critical social justice principles, and service learning teachers should have a well-developed social justice framework that embraces anti-racist, anti-oppression values. Service Learning at SVA strives to support students in identifying and speaking back against the systems of oppression that impact them and their communities, while developing practical real-world skills and knowledge.

Students have a Service Learning course each year of high school which culminates in a Senior Capstone where twelfth graders research, design, and implement a senior capstone project that addresses a social justice issue in their community.
