Student Care Worker

New Mexico International is currently seeking to fill their open Student Care Worker position.

Job Overview

Under the direction of the Operations Assistant, the Student Care Worker is responsible for supervising students/participants enrolled in the NMIS Before and After Care program. The Before and After Care staff must provide the participants with a leadership role, and be a positive role model to them. They are responsible for planning, organizing and leading daily activities in the Before and After Care Program. This position is also assigned to student recess and lunch duty and various custodial duties.

Working hours: To be scheduled between the hours of 6am and 12:30pm or 12pm to 6:30pm plus possible additional hours, as needed.

Start Date: July 26, 2021 or upon hire

Required Skills

  • Certification/Educational Qualifications:
  • Current trainings in accordance with this Employee Handbook and GC Policy (e.g. Bloodborne Pathogens, CPR, etc.)
  • Current background check in compliance with school policy
  • Current trainings in accordance with this Employee Handbook and GC Policy (e.g. Bloodborne Pathogens, etc.)
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current First Aid certification
  • Ongoing training related to the care of children, including special needs children


Physical/Mental Qualifications:

  • Be able to lift and carry 75 pounds.
  • Be able to stand for six consecutive hours.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and multitask
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with confidence and order
  • A self-starter, independent thinker, able to complete essential duties without constant/direct supervision
  • Professional demeanor and communication skills
  • A team player
